Uhh, where’d I run off to?

There’s nobody here…

2 and a half years since I last posted something, and about 2 years since I touched this blog at all. Wow.

A lot of changes have been happening in my life recently (and honestly? So much in the last 2 years! I wouldn’t recognise myself).

As I was making plans and prepping for more changes to happen, I had a very clear thought.

Everything has been happening so fast lately, and I’ve been doing so much and plan to do even more. I recently handed in my resignation to the retail job I’ve now worked at for the last 2 and a half years, and have been prepping myself for what comes after – an open-ended adventure where I get to go traveling, within the country and perhaps outside of it; where I get to learn some new skills – pretty much anything that tickles my fancy; where ultimately, my goal is to have a bit of fun and initiate a new arc of my life. It is the Year of the Horse after all. Supposedly that’s meant to signify a year of change. (I have not looked into that and I probably should.)

But I have already done so much too, over the last long while. I have taken on and completed many projects, made many friends, had many wonderful experiences. But the thing is, I’ve hardly documented any of it. If you were to come up and ask me what I’ve done over the last little while, I’d have to really think to be able to tell you. I don’t keep a very good record of my accomplishments and experiences – I have a journal, but I’m not religious in writing happenings into it. I tend to use it to plan stuff out more than I do to recite and recollect events that have happened.

And not just that, but the things I have learned. So many things that I have learned. Things like:

  • How to plaster internal walls and paint a room
  • How to trim the edges of a wall / room
  • Broadly, how to renovate a room
  • Which pieces of motorcycle gear you need and which are the best for safety purposes
  • How to ride a motorcycle in the first place’
  • The importance of earplugs when riding
  • How to install Linux on a Windows laptop
  • How to fix a failing memory chip on a Wii U (you thought I forgot about part 2 but noo I had half written it and abandoned it and now I intend to figure out how I did it)
  • How to set up your own peer-to-peer file sharing solution
  • How to connect with a new friend
  • How to deepen an existing friendship
  • How to trust myself
  • How to be completely myself around others, without hiding my personality away

And probably even more I can’t think of right now!

Point is, if I’m gonna go on a grand adventure, I’m gonna do a lot and learn a lot. And I believe that it would be a real shame for all of that life experience to just pass by, unshared and unspoken.

Cause if I don’t write it down somewhere, it’ll all likely come with me to my grave. I’m only 22 going on 23, but I have lived a surprisingly full life thus far. And it’s only going to get fuller.

Not that it would be a waste, but I’m sure someone can learn from the things I have learned and lived, if only I were to share it with them. Plus, I have many fun ideas for projects and life pursuits that I’d like to document somewhere, even if only for my own sake some 10-20 years down the line.

So that’s what I’m gonna do.

I have many personal stories to tell, many fun ideas to share, and many things I have learned on my own that might benefit someone else, so they don’t have to do all the hard work and spend all the time and money I have to learn these things. And I’m gonna write them all down and post them here. Probably on a weekly basis. Maybe a semi-weekly basis. I have a lot of life experience to get through, and much more soon enough I’m sure.

I’ll keep the four posts I already have up, but essentially this is a fresh start for this blog. A new beginning.

And given that this is my blog, about my life, and the things I want to share, I figure I should make it a bit more personal to me. That comes with redesigns, now that I’m a different person to who I was in the before time, but it also comes with a proper introduction.

So hello, to anyone who may be reading. My name is Rohan, I am a rather ambitious young man with a zest for life, and this is my weblog. I shall dub it, “Nacho’s Log”. (I’ll get into why I’ve called it that at some point, maybe.)

Stick around or don’t. It’s not for you, it’s for me.

But if you like it, then you’re welcome to stick around. Maybe save this site somewhere and return to it occasionally. I don’t have any mailing lists set up cause there’s no-one to notify.

What am I gonna talk about next post, I wonder?

Maybe I should talk about what I’ve found when it comes to the best* motorcycle gear (*that I have been able to find).

Maybe I could talk about what my plans are for the coming months, after I finish up at my job.

Maybe I can talk about that earplug impression appointment I had the other day, and how weird it felt to have silicone molding squeezed into my ears. (It also kinda felt satisfying, ngl.)

Favourite board games, weird names I’ve given my vehicles, etc. etc…
